Subject: Pred question and baaaaad POOP!

Hello everyone,
I have an 8+ year old ferret with mild insulinoma that seems to be
getting worse. He was on .35cc Pred BID, and maintaining well, but I've
increased it to .45 over the last 2 weeks and it's helped only temporarily.
I know I can increase it to quite a bit more than I'm giving now, but how
fast can I do this? (As an aside, I did try Proglycem a while ago and he did
not tolerate it well so I don't think I'll try it again.)
One more question, this ferret has also recently had bouts of bad
diarrhea (and I'm a vet assistant so I really know bad poop when I see it!).
It has been ranging in color from yellow (with mucus) to greenish to light
brown. His diet is strictly controlled, he eats nothing but his special
soup and the ingredients of this soup have not changed at all. He is not
eating as well as he used to, and he is having frequent accidents in his
bed--he always tries to get out to go but doesn't quite make it. I don't
see much straining or increased frequency as when he previously had colitis,
though. Could this be a sign of another disease? Parasites? He urinates
fine--no problems there.
If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. I want to keep
my boy comfortable as long as I can...

Thanks,
Christine and Benji
