Subject: high blood glucose...Why?

Brutus had 5 pancreatic tumors removed last Spring, which didn't
improve his low blood glucose (21-37),so we put him on prednisone...it
took 1.5 mg twice a day to get his glucose up to 60's.

He has also had 1 and 1/2 adrenals removed in Jan 2000 and had a
return to sexual agression this spring, so we repeated a UT and put
him on Lupron. His fur isn't growing back and I thought he might be
starting to have trouble urinating, so three weeks ago I added
meletonin 3 mg per day.

2 weeks ago he had an ear tumor removed and at that time his blood
glucose was "fine" per the vet tech (I think he said 127).

Brutus blood glucose tonight was 450 and 457. He is insulinomic and
normally runs in the 60's.

Can Lupron/meletonin cause high glucose? I will recheck the glucose
in the morning and hold his prednisone if it is still high. I will
talk to my vet when her office opens. I would like to know if any
vets or ferret folk here have seen high glucose develop in ferret
suddenly several months after pancreatic surgery.
