Subject: Pred question and baaaaad POOP!

How much does the ferret weigh, I think once you hit
2mg/kg of pred. you are at the max for benefits,
I don't think you have to increase too slowly, but once you
are there that is the best you can do.

The diarrhea may be from the worsening of the insulinoma, or
the diarrhea affecting the appetite and worsening the insulinoma,
the ferret has to eat a good diet, and not miss meals in order
to keep the blood sugar stable- so if he isn't eating well it may
be why his sugar is low, but then again a low sugar makes one
nauseated and may not eat- it may be hard to tell which is which,
maybe your vet can do some tests and see if there is anything else
going on, I am afraid that insulinoma is terminal and I guess
at some point, once the pred is maxed there is little more you can
do.
As far as the stools having parasites, just bring one into work and
check it out.

Good luck,

Patty
