Hi,
At the vet clinic where I volunteer they have the ear thermometers. One day when I was there they tried both the rectal and the ear one on an animal as they could not believe the reading of the ear one. The ear one was wrong. It may be how it was held, but now we use mainly rectal. The ear ones do have there purpose though for the really difficult animals. I have not seen them used on ferrets yet.
