Would likely pay to check out:
http://www.afip.org/ferrets/chordoma.html
We have one who has sort of a bear-cub tail. His is due to an
serious injury inflicted before he wound up at a shelter. He
moves a bit differently than a standard ferret, but doesn't seem to
miss his tail and has a grand time in life. Loves to lie down and
roll over for treats or to show off for an audience.
