Hi -
I wrote an email to the litter pearl manufacturers, asking what they thought of using it with ferrets. I got a very quick reply. the woman who replied said they had never tested it with ferrets, and said that she wouldn't recommend it for any animal that might tend to hang out on it, or dig for fun. She said she feared it could dessicate their mucous membranes.

How long have you used it, do your guys dig/play in it, and have you had any problems at all? Seems like a nice product (and I was very happy to get a very nice, very concerned reply so quickly), but I haven't figured out how to use it without exposing the kids to the possible dessicating properties.

For odor, I use a Maine-made product called Ferret Kleen (also sold as Urine Kleen for dogs and cats; so far as I can tell it's the same stuff.) Works pretty well. It's supposed to neutralize rather than cover up the odor.

Has anyone used any of the drops of deodorizing stuff you add to their water? What is it? How does it work?

-Claire
