Subject: identifying the " tail "symptom??
I am hoping some of the experienced ferret folsdk / sheltere5rs can provide
some feedback on a symptom which no vets have been able to pinpoint.
We are seeing the "signal" of a possible medical problem in severla
ferreets who have succumbed to one forf of cancer ( osteo, Lymphoma, etc)
within a year of displaying the following symptom -- and wonder fi anyone
else has noted the oddity.
The older ferrets begin holding their tails upwards and curves toward the head.
In each case observed here at Ferret Wise the ferret had an underlying
terminal health condition. At first it was supposed this was
neurological in nature however the vets treating the animals made no
notice of any significance in this displayed symptom.
I am hoping someone has an explanation of what this is, what causes it, if
there is anything which can be done to remedy this condition and restore a
normal tail to the ferrets and more importantly is there a conditoion which
should be suspected when this display begins?.
Thanks so much--
