Subject: Re: itchy after cryo(adrenal)

Dear Michelle - remember when you take out an adrenal, the
excess hormones still circulate until they dissipate, and
depending on the concentrations, can take up to 6-8 weeks. It
likely will dissipate over time. Just because it went away
quickly with the first adrenal doesn't mean it will do the
same with the second one.

In cases of adrenal-related pruritus (which we don't really
understand), Benadryl really doesn't seem to do much.

With kindest regards,

Bruce Williams, DVM

Dear Dr. Williams, my 5 yr old neutered male, had his left
adrenal removed 2 years ago. 3 weeks ago he had his right
adrenal cryoed. He is still VERY itchy. I don't understand
this, as right after his left one was removed all the
itchiness went away. He is still on 1/4 tab of Florinef 1
time a day. I have added .04 ml Benydryl 2 times a day as
per his vet. Any other suggestions? Thank you so much for
your time!!
