Subject: Can ferret get ECE twice...
One year ago my ferrets contracted ECE. Yesterday I brought home an
8 week old ferret. I was wondering if he happened to have ECE could
the other ferrets get it again? His stool appears OK and he is
eating and playing good. He does sneeze a bit and that may be from
being shipped from Marshall Farms to Michigan. I've heard that can
be caused by the way they are shipped. I have bought three other
ferrets from this pet store over the past 6 years and never got a
sick one. The one that was ill came from a different pet store, a
larger chain of pet stores. He is in a cage alone where my other
ferrets can't come in contact with him. I wash my hands with anti-
bacterial soap and showered and washed my cloths after touching him.
I will get him into a VET ASAP when they open on Monday.
This is the first ferret I have gotten since the virus. I didn't
realize how scared I would be. I lost two of my older ferret during
the ECE breakout. Has anyone had a ferret get ECE twice? Please
help. Thanks
