Subject: Red paws after eating

Hi everyone,

I have an IBD (officially diagnosed with biopsies) ferret that has
been on a supportive diet of A/D mixed with pumpkin, along with IVF
Duck and Green Pea kibble. The Z/D kibble will be in this week and
I'll be mixing it with the Duck. He is doing great! Because of the
pumpkin, his stools are now nice and firm, and the A/D has helped put
back all the weight that he lost. The moisture in both is also
helping to keep him really hydrated. His renal values were up when
his IBD was bad and sub-Q fluids lowered them, so I'm always watching
him for dehydration.

The odd thing is that I've noticed after eating the A/D and pumpkin,
his paw pads turn red. It subsides within 5-10 minutes of finishing
his meal. Why? Is he allergic to something in the mixture? I know
that IBD ferrets can have food allergies, most likely to the chicken
protein, which is why he's getting the duck kibble. It's just really
strange.

Any thoughts?
