Not necessarily - the size depends on the palpation skills and
experience of the veterinarian. I have diagnosed adrenal tumors by
palpation when they were only about twice the normal size of the
adrenal, even, in some cases, before any clinical signs developed.
However, I agree with Mike's opinion - if there are signs of adrenal
disease, and a palpable adrenal mass, I'd not spend the money on an
ultrasound, but rather on the surgery.
