I have never put an adrenal ferret of mine on medications. We have
fortunately always been able to perform the surgery. Medications are
a second choice with adrenal disease. Surgery is always the first
choice. I am under the impression that your ferrets are healthy so
unless there are compelling reasons to avoid surgery, that's the
direction you should take. The medications that are available only
mask the symptoms. They don't cure the disease so surgery is always
the best way to go.

I know who your vet is and I think you should trust him. He is a
good ferret vet and knows what he is doing. At this point, he feels
it is too early to definitively diagnose adrenal, if I understood you
correctly. There is a fear of going in too early and being unable to
determine which gland is affected. The best thing to do is keep an
eye on them. If I ever chose to leave the vets I am currently using,
I would switch to him.
