Subject: Adrenal & vet experiences with adrenal surgery

I haven't posted since I had to put Alfie to sleep last month, stopped
getting on the net but was just starting to catch up and now I am starting
to read up on adrenal issues. Wow! I am starting to get overwhelmed. Tasha
who is 4.5 has lost most of the hair on her tail except at the base and Toby
5.5 years is has the same thing, but has more hair (he also has a back
injury but is able to walk but continues on Dex). My vet is a good local
vet but I am starting to get nervous because I live near the western edge of
the US and I am not sure if he is up to surgery on ferrets. I plan to ask
when I get blood tests for both Toby and Tasha next week...but I was
wondering if anyone on this list is familiar with the Olympic Peninsula
(Port Angeles, Sequim, Port Townsend) we are about 1.5 to 2.5 hours from
Seattle and Olympia, Washington. Anyone familiar with vets experienced in
adrenal issues in our area? And I think I am ready to adopt another
ferret... does anyone know about reputable small breeders in my area? I
have lost two ferrets this year who were 3 years and 4 years old and I am
starting to become concerned regarding purchasing ferrets who are bred by
large companies such as Marshal Farms. I know I can go to Bremerton and buy
a ferret from Petco, but I don't think I will this time. Of course Alfie
was Marshal and he was the sweetest ferret paws down.

Thanks, Kathleen
