Subject: Seasonal Shedding vs. Early Adrenal
Hello all. I posted a few days ago regarding a vet visit for
my ferrets. I was concerned about Doja's spleen - which the
vet said was only slightly enlarged, fairly common and nothing
to worry about.
I was concerned with Mixie because, she is looking kind of
mangy and I wasn't sure if it's adrenal or just shedding. Vet
thinks it is possible it's only shedding - BUT, her vulva is
only slightly enlarged and she does have a tiny bit of
hairloss on her inner thighs. However, she is 3yrs old and he
said it is very common to see this during a shedding season,
then all goes back to normal. He said it is still
undetermined if this is actually the beginning stages of
adrenal or not. Sometimes it comes back full force the
following year and surgery is necessary - but not always.
Regardless, he wants to see her in 2 months to assess the
situation again, I have an appointment set in January.
Does anyone have any comment on this "seasonal" shedding vs.
early adrenal?
Thanks in advance for any input.
