Hi, Sara,
I am very, very sorry for your loss. Please do not blame yourself, though.
This should have been routine and successful surgery. My Pertwee had his
second (right) adrenal surgery a year and a half ago. The sad fact is that when
any of us, two legged or four legged, goes in for major surgery, there is
always at least a small risk that this could happen, even if your vet did
everything right.
Yes, you spent a lot of money. You did so because you loved Rommel and wanted
him to be happy and healthy for the rest of his life. I would have made
exactly the same decision you did. If your vet has experience with right
adrenal surgery and the treatment of ferrets who have lost both adrenal glands,
and has a history of success, then you didn't make a bad choice there either.
The best vet in the world doesn't have a 100% success rate.
I know this hurts. No, it's not fair. I'm sorry your husband isn't there.
Still, you aren't alone. I think there are a lot of us who read your post this
morning and are crying with you. I know it's a poor, electronic subsitute but:

Again, please don't blame yourself for loving him enough to try and do what
should have been best for him
