Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Digest Number 434

I was just wondering if their is anyone out there using DOCP
injections for ferrets with bilateral adrenalectomies? It saved our
ferrets life when she was I believe having addisionian crisis>
please excuse the spelling! Dr. Weiss recommended it and it was
great. It was a monthly shot about $15 and she did not have to take
meds daily. She received it for approx. two years. She no longer
needs it and she is a pretty healthy 6yr old. She probably does not
need it anymore because some adrenal tissue has rejuvenated? We
have another ferret who needs her second surgery and another who
will be getting her first. We are using Lupron to hold off the
surgeries temporarily and it has worked so far,
Thanks,
Kelly
