Subject: adrenal/insulinoma
My 6 1/2 yr old MF female had surgery 12
days ago to remove the left adrenal. She had the
right one removed along with some pancreatic tissue in
5/00. The vet noted nodules in her pancreas at that
time which precipitated to tissue removal. She had a
low BG in 11/00 so he did surgery again and removed
more pancreatic tissue. He said at that time her
pancreas did not look very good at all. This surgery,
10/01, he did the left adrenal and looked at the
pancreas. He told me after the surgery that the
adrenal did not look "that bad", removed it of course.
His main concern was the appearance of the pyloric
area, apparently this is between the stomach and the
pancreas. He said the tissue looked thickened and he
did not like that. He asked if she had problems with
vomiting and she hasn't. She eats and drinks
normally. My question is what could be causing this
and what is long term prognosis, any treatment, any
comments. I appreciate your time in answering this.
She had her stitches out today and she looks and acts
good. She had a low BG (48) day of surgery, he gave
her a dextrose solution prior surgery. The vet started
her on pred and we will retest her next week.
