Subject: Re: Adrenal & Lupron
The results of Lupron treatment are not 100% cosmetic. Keep in mind
how those cosmetic changes occur. Lupron stops the constant
stimulation of the adrenal glands and the resultant raging hormones
that are coursing through Cedes. I believe there's some thought that
it can reduce or prevent hyperplasia of adrenal tissue. I seem to
recall a vet here saying he puts a ferret who has had one adrenal
gland out on Lupron to prevent over-stimulation of the remaining
gland and possibly ward of, or at least slow down, future problems
with the remaining gland.
Since these hormones also cause symptoms other than hair loss, such
as aggression, return to sexual behavior, itchiness, prostate
problems (and resulting urinary blockages) etc., I'll bet it will
make Cedes feel better too.
So it seems like it's more than just Rogaine for ferrets, though not
as good as surgery... but you've already been there with no success.
