... is a small piece that may be of interest, in the "Vital Signs"
section. There's a drug in testing, GM-CSF, which is turning out in
human studies to be useful for development of collateral circulation.
In our household Seven of Six has the remains of a right adrenal
tumor that had grown right into the Vena Cava, rather than just
around it. She could not have a ligation because she just didn't
have enough collateral circulation. Perhaps sometime in the future
such a drug or something similar found secondarily to such research
will help make options safer for our furry family members with
similar problems. I gather that the full article by Dr. Seiler of
University Hospital in Bern is in the current edition of the journal
"Circulation"
