Subject: Need advice - Fast

Please - anyone that can help me. To make this as brief as
possible. WInnie is 5. She has an adrenal - we tried Lupron - no
success. WE only did it to try to regrow hair before the follicles
die - she only has head and chest fur and some patches. She has
officially has adrenal for almost a year - no other outward signs of
adrenal besides hair loss.
For alomst two years she has had insulinomia. She has been on
pediapred - .6cc 2x a day adn has been terrific - never (as far as I
know ) had a seziere. She is very Active adn happy - has a great
appetite - she is also recently blind - but that doesn't stop her.
Money was an issue and still may be, but I am out of college now so
it is a little easier - but here is my HUGE decision:
A few weeks ago winnie had waht looked like a popped, clotted blood
blister on her toe. Vet today is about 99% sure it is a tumor.
Said it is unusual for a ferret to get a tumor there - and there is
a chance it is a bad infection, but unlikely. She is on .25cc
clavamox for a week to kill the infection and to make her a little
more comfortable. Now the big decision - the toe removal will be
quick ver little time under anesthesia - less likely to have a
problem. But while she is down - do I opt for the other (adrenal
and insolinomia) to be dealt with.
Here are my thoughts and please please comment. They do not know
left or right sided - what if they open up (no ultrasound done) and
can't tell - or what it they can't remove for whatever reason or
what if the adrenals both look good =- did they open her for
nothing? What if they remove the insulinomia (the problem area -
sorry can't recall terms) and it doesn't help her. Did I put her
thru that for nothing - SHE IS VERY ACTIVE AND HAPPY NOW I am
honestly afraid to ruin that. Also - I was told that she will heal
much much slower being on pred - well - what if her body just can't
do it - as far as I can tell there is no guarantee to the surgeries
(besides her toe of course - that really is not an option - he gives
her a month to deal with the pain before he feel it might be so bad
they would need to euthinize - she is not at all ready to die
without the toe surgery - but that will be doen regardless)
So am I wrong - I can't say money is not an issue - but her life is
more of an issue - but I just feel like if I the surgeries are
unsuccesful I won't forgive myself - her qality of life is good - I
am her mom - I know - she is happy, has a wonderful appetite - why
ruin that - so what - she won't have hair - I kind of think that
makes her special.

PLEASE give me all adive you can - medical, personal.....
Her toe amputation is Wednesday - The vet asked me to call Monday to
ask more questions (he knows I will have more) and to talk more
about it and what I want to do one surgery or all. PLEASE give me
advice - this is tearing me in half.
Thank you so much.
