In my experience and to the best of my knowledge,
ultrasound is quite unreliable for determining whether
an adrenal gland is enlarged. Ultrasound is also
quite expensive, since the vet usually has to call in
an ultrasound specialist. Try finding an ultrasound
specialist with ferret experience - that's
entertaining. And they do tend to underplay their
lack of experience with ferrets.

If my ferret were in this situation, I would spend the
money on Lupron or Arimidex, and leave well enough
alone. I think the chances of an all-around successful
outcome given the other issues is not encouraging.
