Subject: RE: Addisons disease(surgically induced)

I currently have four ferrets that needed bilateral adrenalectomies (two
needed both out at once, two needed one out, then the other one a year
or so later), and I have had several that needed only one removed. The
ones with a single adrenal gland have not needed any medical
intervention. However, my vet places all the "bilateral" fuzzies on
daily Florinef (1/4 of a 0.1 mg tablet) and Prednisone immediately
post-op. They seem to do very well ... I prefer the tablet form and
grind them and mix them into a little Bob C's Chicken Gravy ... happy
little rascals, and no problems getting the medicine into them ...
