Subject: Re: Questions about the Postulate (sp?) Gland & Blockage

Prostate gland enlargement in male ferrets is almost always a result
of adrenal disease. You should be very concerned as a urinary
blockage is life-threatening. Pencil erasers in the intestine is
also just as life threatening!

Talk to your vet about the possibility of adrenal disease. If you
see him straining or unable to urinate, get him into a vet
immediately. Don't hesitate even a few hours. Curing the prostate
enlargement is done by taking care of the adrenal problem, either
with surgery (preferred method) or medically with Lupron.

Watch his poop habits too and be aware of any vomiting. He may have
passed the eraser entirely, but if not, this can get serious real
fast.
