Thanks Mike, I completely understood what you meant about "not
being up to it". I first had a sonogram done on Chewy in 1999,
which showed that his left Adrenal gland was bigger than his right
(he had no masses of any kind). The Vet stated that Chewy would
only lose more hair and urinate more frequently, but in his opinion,
there was no real need for surgery. In 2000, Chewy had lost alot
more hair and his spleen was a little larger but due to the fact
that Ferrets last 5-7 years(so he said!!) I really shouldn't push
his luck. This year, his stomach is quite large due to his spleen
and I have seen him fumble with his hind legs at least twice. The
Vet said that I should just enjoy Chewy and the time that I had left
with him. When I asked, what can be expected of Chewy's progressing
illness, he said more urination and possibly his spleen will burst.
He couldn't give a specific amount of time that Chewy had to live.
He said he might live months or maybe years. The whole visit was
extremely vague.
Chewy is still so full of life, there is no way that I'm going to
just let him get any worse. Though I am completely to blame for not
using better judgement and investigating this illness better, I feel
like a fool. I've been taking Chewy to this Vet since he was 6
weeks old. I trusted his judgement more than my own. As I said in
the reply email to Deirdre, the Vet said there would be
breakthroughs and that nothing could be done other than Surgery for
Adrenal Gland Disease but within the past couple of days, I have
found out that there is alot that can be done. I warn everyone out
there to be careful with their pets and always try to do you own
investigations on any issue regarding your pet (especially when this
issue is their health)!

I'm wondering if your vet knows something we don't know! We'd

like to hear what these medical breakthroughs are, or if it was
just
a hopeful statement.
By the way, in my previous message when I said, "if your vet feels
he's not up to it" I of course meant Chewy not being up to it, not
your vet.
