Subject: gastric reflux

Hi,

I found my 6 yr old female in a seizure due to insulinoma 5 weeks ago.
Caro, followed by baby food & A/D brought her out of it. SHe responed well
to the med for about 1 1/2 weeks and had emergency surgery 4 weeks ago. Her
stomach contents were not empyting completely. My vet removed about 50% of
the diseased pancreas and did not expect much in the way of recovery.
Norton did very well after surgery and follow up BG was 90. One week ago I
found her gagging (ok when asleep). My vet thought her stomach felt fine
(not distended as before) and we put her on carafate and pepsid
(injectable). I didn't feel as if it was helping but I'm continuing the
carafate (15' prior to hand feeding). SHe ate totally ferret prior to the
seizure but won't eat on her own now. My vet feels that the stomach may not
be able to empty completely and she may be nauseated due to gastric reflux.
SHe goes in on Mon Nov 5th to check a BG etc. Does anyone have any
suggestions? SHe gags alot when she first wakes but her activity and
behavior are fairly normal. She is urinating and pooping well.

Thanks for any advice,

Claudia Johnson
