Just out of curiosity....what is wrong with all
five of your ferrets that they all have to take
metranidazole?

Why don't you share your compounding formula with
the List? I think we would all love to know how
to get ferrets (and other animals) to tolerate
flagyl. My vet was hoping that this formula would
work for cats also. I tried your technique a
while ago. Didn't work a bit better. They just
didn't want to take it. Tried Patty's idea of
going in the side and squirting toward the front.
Didn't work a bit better. I just have to force it
down them. They get their Gerber's afterward.

I have given lots of meds to animals and some
tolerate them better than others. But, I have
never had one take to flagyl. When Champ was
taking it, I found I could mix about 0.2ml in his
soup and he couldn't taste it. Any more than that
and he wouldn't eat his soup. I had to give him
the rest of it orally. Thank God most meds are
short-term.
