Subject: squinting-ECE

Hi,
TO be honost, im not sure if my ferret has ECE or not, but i am assuming that
he does. He has already spent a week in the Veterinary Hospital on fluid
injections, and medications. Anyways, he is home now, and still isnt fully
better. BUT!!!! about the chicken baby food thing, i have been feeding him
gerbers chicken baby food for the past 2 days. Anywhere from a quater to a
whole jar is what my vet percribed. A good way to get your ferret to actually
eat it (mine hated it from the syringe) Warm about a spoon to a spoon and a
half in the microwave. dont get it hot, just barely warm, put a dab on your
finger tip and touch it on the ferrets mouth. It will start licking the stuff
off, it may hate it at first, but kepp dabbing your fingers over and over
into the baby food, and eventually it will start licking your fingers on its
own. Its worked for me so far, and today we got to almost 2 spoon fuls! Hes
ate almost a whole jar today. Another thing my vet perscribed was a 75%
pedialyte and 25% water mix. You may need to syringe feed this, if your
ferret wont drink on its own. Mine is not, but will take the syringe pretty
easily. I try to give a minimum of 3 to 6 CC every hour. Since i have started
this, his poops are starting to turn more brown and seedy instead of green
and seedy. I hope this helps!
