Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] excessive bruising and bleeding
during surgery
There is a chinese herb Yunnan Pai Yo that is especially good for bruising
/ bleeding & pain. It can be applied topically to cuts and wounds that
bleed or taken orally ( it stings similarly to styptic) or orally in small
doses for internal bleeding. (This herb and treatment using it has been
written about in at least one text authored by a veterinarian). We have
used it here for 2 years on several occasions and have been able to get
major stump bleeding under control after a spay during estrus - so a
second surgery was avoided. Recently it was used for an extreme bleeding
ulcers -- and I am happy to report 2 days later the ferret has near normal
stools instead of blood clots in mucous and is active and playful!
I would be happy to respond to individual emails
