Subject: yogurt and ferrets!

As an aside to this, if a ferret gets C.dificile
colitis from antibiotic use- It can be a
nasty problem, with very bad diarrhea, and
bloody, crampy stools. It can be life threatening,
this happens
because the good bacteria are killed by the
antibiotic allowing for an overgrowth of the
Clostidium, the treatment is Flagyl - to kill
the new infection caused by the original
antibiotic, so in that case an antibiotic is used
to treat something caused by an antibiotic.
( a test of the stool will show this infection)

In humans it has been found that if the person
is to be on antibiotics they should take
yougurt with live cultures to help decrease the
side effect of diarrhea, which Amoxil and Augmentin
are notorious for causing,
