Subject: Melatonin *implants*

Hey all,

Just doing a little research project here... I've been compiling info on
melatonin and fully understand all of the disclaimers.

So, anyway, looking at the archives, it seems that most people are giving
their ferrets oral melatonin from the health food store. The dose is
supposed to be given 8-9 hours after sunrise, though, and that just
doesn't work out with many people's work schedules.

NOW, there is brief mention in FHL message # 4477 of using the "male mink"
implant every 4-6 months. That would get around the time-of-dosing problem.
I can't find mention in the FHL archives of a brand name for this. A little
non-FHL research shows a mink melatonin implant called Prime-X that can
possibly be purchased through Wildlife Pharmaceuticals, Inc, and is a 2.7
mg dose.

Questions: Is Prime-X the implant that has occasionally been used in
ferrets? If not, what is the name and source for what has been used?
Has anyone here actually used this form of melatonin, and if so, how
did it work?

Thanks all, best wishes!
