Subject: foot tumor

Hi there-
I too just had a ferret with a foot tumor that appeared all of the
sudden. Hers was almost coming out of the nail bed area and just on
one toe. IT was huge and bled a bit. At first I thought it was a
blood blister - and I kept it clean and it was drying up and getting
smaller but then it started to get gross - I then brought her to her
vet who put her on anitbiotics for a week. She just had her toe
removed this past Wed and is doign super. She has no idea she is
missing a toe. She was swollen but she is on pediapred for ehr
insulinomia and that I was told, helps reduce the pain and swelling
as well. She is doing great now. Still waiting fo the biopsy to
come back. She, thanks to small miracles, doesn't have to wear a
collar. They feared that there would be stress on the stiches and
that she would chew, but they removed the whole toe at the ligament
I believe - there was no need to cut any bone, which helped alot.
Anyway, she is doign great. I hope you have as much luck with your
removal as Winnie had with hers.
