Subject: Neutering questions

I have a few questions on neutering a ferret.
1)I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the "average" cost is to
neuter a ferret?
Their are 2 vets in my town that claim to be knowledgeable with
ferrets, I have been to both, and I guess I really haven't formed a
opinion with either one, they both seem to be "ok", however the one I
prefer when it comes to surgeries is the more expensive one. I called
both inquiring about the cost for neutering and the price range was
quite different. One said it would cost $150.00-$160.00 and the other
$50.00. I was wondering why their would be such a difference in price?
2) What type of risk is their involved with neutering?
I know that with any surgery their is risk involved, but with ferrets
can their be any other complications as opposed to nutering a cat for
instance, or is this not a good example.
3) Is their anything else I should be aware of when it comes to
neutering my ferret, any other questions I should be asking my vet?
I just got a new baby, and I do intend to neuter him around 6-12
months old, or when I feel it is time, he is now 3 months. I am
wanting to research this and ask questions so I will know what I am
doing when it comes time to take him in.
Thank you in advance,
Kris
