Sounds like possible adrenal disease IF it turns out to not be
just part of seasonal fur loss and re-growth that happen in
Spring and Autumn. There are LOADS of back posts here at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ferret-Health-listto help you .
Remember that males sometimes have a sudden loss of the
ability to urinate with secondary prostate problems that can go
with adrenal disease.
This time of year things can get confusing due to normal
shedding and fur re-growth. Historically, it's also a time when
folks figure that they have found something that grows fur back
even though seasonal changes are normal now.
There are a pile of health-related sites on multiple topics. The
Miami Ferret, Trifl, and ones might be the best in conjunction
with the FHL back posts for you to learn about adrenal disease.

neutered ferret who is losing his hair on his two front paws at
the joints and also on his underside down by his rear legs. He
also scratches a lot, but cannot see if he is scratching in those
areas. Before I got him from the shelter, he lost his hair on his
back in the center on each side but it grew back with in six to
eight weeks. Any info anyone has will be greatly appreciated and
my sincere thanks go along with it.
