As Sukie pointed out, normal shedding occurs twice a year. Keep in
mind that under the unnatural lighting condition in which most
ferrets in the U.S. are kept, shedding can occur just about any time
of the year.

I remember when I adopted Spaz around October with a full winter
coat. Come that December, he shed that and grew in his "summer"
coat. Obviously, not the right time of year for a summer coat!
