Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] New hair growth

Hi Guys,
Melatonin tends to block the hormones effect but does not
effect a cure. If he is 6 and in good health I would opt for
surgery as it is a permanent cure.

We posted on Oct 15th....Simon had just been diagnosed with
adrenal disease and our vet had prescribed Anipryl. You all
were kind enough to let me know that Anipryl does not work
in ferrets and I was able to send it back. We read scores
of articles on Mike's miamiferret site--Thank you!-- trying
to decide which route to take with Simon (he's almost 6),
and in the interim put him on melatonin. We were really
astounded that in just about 2 weeks he was growing his fur
back! Now he looks like a baby ferret, all furred out and
beautiful! We've also been trying to stay with the natural
light cycle.....sometimes it's a bit hard, and do the best
we can. Also, we try to give the melatonin at 2 every
afternoon, but because of our schedules sometimes we are a
little earlier or later. I don't know how to avoid that and
hope it's not critical. I guess my question is.....now
what?
