I'm glad the malatonin is relieving the adrenal symptoms for Simon. Of course,
it does nothing to stop the progress of the disease.

Have you ruled out surgery? Our vet has done successful adrenal surgery on
ferrets as old as eight if they have no other significant medical problems and
are otherwise in good health. The real issue is how strong Simon is and
whether or not an experienced ferret vet feels he can come through the surgery
well. Six is relatively old, but... we've had ferrets in the local club live
to 10 or 11. Considering that he might well be with you for several more
years, I would find a vet with significant experience doing adrenal surgeries
and have him or her make a determination as to whether or not Simon is a good
surgical candidate and then make a decision.

Whatever you decide, the best of luck to you and to Simon.
