I read somewhere regarding ferret food that fish should be
avoided. Why? Please send info.

Any food which contains an excess of thiaminase can cause a
thiamine deficiency and this was documented by the vets who
served a ferret farm overseas years ago. This presents as
marked anorexia, lethargy, and finally convulsions.

Sometimes there are special situations in which fish can help
to restart a ferret's appetite or flavor something else for
while to jumpstart eating the better food in enough quantity
when there is no choice (as with Carla's Magellan or our
Haleakala). It should not be a primary nutrient source.
