Subject: megaesophagus

Nexium(esomeperazole) is just an acid pump inhibitor,
like Prilosec (omperazole- but probably the same thing),
Protonix (pantaprozole), and a few others,
but they all work the same way to inhibit the production
of stomach acid, no acid no irritation or erosion of the
esophageal wall- does nothing for reflux itself, or for motility
problems, sorry.

Under Propulsid it says "promotility agent", and
Available only through limited access protocal, contact
manufacturer- I am wondering if your vet tries, maybe
can get some? Problem with it is that many many drugs
would interact with it/or those individuals with heart problems
were at risk for a fatal arrythmia on it, so the company
chose to withdrawl it.
