Subject: IMPORTANT REMINDER
A nearby friend lost two of her ferrets on
Wednesday to a gas leak in her house. Thank God
she was spared along with two other ferrets (found
unconscious but immediately given oxygen), her
dogs, and turtles. The two who died were in her
bedroom where the worst fumes (?) were. She
didn't smell a thing. It apparently happened
during the night. She woke up not feeling well
and found the two dead ones. She then found the
unconscious ones (downstairs) and realized what
had happend. They were rushed to the vet.
If you heat or cook with gas, please have your
home checked for leaks. As tragic as this was, it
could have been much worse. She has now had her
entire house checked, the leak repaired, and has
installed carbon monoxide detectors.
To make matters worse, she had just euthanized her
most favorite ferret less than two weeks before.
After continuous UTIs, his urethrea ruptured.
When he started urinating large amounts of blood,
she knew it was time. He's the little guy I
babysat a couple of months ago that you all helped
me with ideas to get him to eat.
