Two reasons:

1. It is not a source of accessible protein for them so it's better to
have it only as a more minor ingredient, same as any grain or
other foods that are that unnatural to their diets.

2. Too much yellow corn (It apparently takes a good bit unless
an individual is inclined in this direction.) raises the urine pH, if
memory serves, and that in turn makes the formation of bladder
stones more likely.
