Well, in the rabbit world I have always heard to use the
regular Neosporin but not the Neosporin Plus because it
contains some pain reliever that can be toxic if ingested. I
am assuming the same is true for ferrets, but I know you can
definitely use a little of the regular Neosporin safely.

I too have used Neosporin in the past with no problems-- I
use the cream
kind rather than the ointment because it soaks in quicker,
as opposed to
ointment which could be licked off by the ferret (one of my
ferrets loved to
eat any sort of ointment).
