Subject: Taurine supplemention question

Hello again,

I recently tried out Sukie's sling recommendation to help Bhut get
around and the first thing he did was head for the kitchen and go to
the dog's food bowel....just like he did when he was a baby. I never
used to let him have more than one piece of dog food a day, but he
seems to either remember that or just really like dog food. This was
the first time that he's eaten any type of kibble for over three
weeks. His diet right now consists of watered down A/D, and even that
he will usually only take off my finger. I'm also still having to
force feed on a regular basis to ensure he gets enough each day. He
wants no part of any cat food, kitten food, or ferret food that I've
tried. (he used to eat a mix of foods consisting of mostly TF).

While I know dog food is really bad for ferrets, I'd like to just let
him eat whatever he wants to make him happy, and supplement him to
make up the nutritional difference. So, can anyone tell me where to
obtain a taurine supplement and give me a rough idea of how to dose
it? Anything else I need to supplement? Protein? Fat? Other?

And, just to be clear and avoid any misunderstandings, Bhut most
likely only has a short time left due to whatever type cancer he has.
In any other ferret, I would NEVER dream of feeding dog food. At
this point though, I'm just going for quality of life and trying to
keep him happy for as long as possible.

Thanks in advance,
Stacia
