Subject: A hard season?

I was wondering, that if an altered ferret (male) can have a
"hard season". I have a couple that have had at least one seasonal
change (shedding, etc), where they have dropped a lot of weight
looking gaunt and sleeping a lot. Of course then they perk up, gain
weight, grow a new coat, and all is well. I mean these have been
striking changes. Not all seasonal changes, and sheds are like
this. It's only been one or two for three of mine (ping once, Rocky
once a year, Laddie once). Is there such a thing? Has any one else
experienced this. Does it cause you to worry?
I have one fella now that has had this and I've hand fed him
duck soup twice a day to buck him up. I let him sleep at first, but
then began to wake him, and hold him often to try and stimulate
appetite, etc. He is getting better now and is fine. He was fine
to begin with I think... I just get worried.
