Yes, it appears absolutely terrible and even knowing that they are
out of it and not in pain there still is greast deal of tension and
worry.

Years ago I had grande mal seizures as part of an allergic
reaction to an anesthesia component which also was throwing
off my cardiac rhythm. (We confirmed that it was an allergic
reaction when I reacted in a later surgery, and also confirmed
then that it's controllable with Benedryl in huge amounts.)
Anyway, I gather that I scared the wits out of folks but I had no
discomfort what-so-ever, and I have only one small sound
memory of the day when they were putting on electrodes. There
was no pain, just some disorientation afterward that was quickly
dispelled with an explanation. Apparently, it is the same for
ferrets, no pain.
