Subject: Getting rid of the mites for good

I have been doing some research on taking care of mites on ferrets.
Someone once said to me that you can't expect to fully get rid of the
mites in the ear, if you don't take care of the ones on the skin and
coat too. That the ferret will just keep getting them. They also
suggested using a drug called Invomecin [SP]...said that it can be
put in the mouth or by injection.

Since I have quite a few fuzzbutts, it would be quite pricey to have
them all done at the vet-so, I would like to do it myself [I do know
how to give injections under the skin]. What I would like to know is
how much do I give each ferret of this? How many times will I need to
repeat the treatments? And is there any reason why I can't just give
it to them by mouth? I heard that the taste isn't great, but I also
heard that you give it in such a small ammount...that I was wondering
if it was really that big of a deal to squirt it in the corner of
their mouth and give them a dab of ferretone afterwards to make them
forget about the nasty taste.

If someone could answer my questions, I'd be very greatful.

Thank You and Take Care!
