Subject: More on Mishka: adrenal + insulinoma

Well, things have gotten more complicated for Mishka. He had a low
blood sugar episode Saturday morning, precipitated by my not feeding
him his usual soup on Friday (I had to work 15 hours). It's the
first indication that anything of that sort was wrong - his blood
sugar looked great last month during his workup.

When I got him to the vet, his blood sugar was 54, and packed cell
volume was 76%. Apparently the epogen has done some good, although
we realize that some of the improvement is likely due to his
dehydration thickening his blood. He was stabilized and sent home in
a few hours.

Since then, he will not eat any kibble or drink water. I've been
feeding him soup made of equal amounts of baby food and water with a
little Nupro pet powder, about 6 jars per 24 hours, fed at 4 - 5 hour
intervals. He is on liquid pediapred, I think about .8 ml/day. His
appetite is good, and his eyes look more normal, but he is still
quite weak and lacking stamina.

I wish I had a better idea of the chances that he could achieve a
reasonable quality of life again. This is quite upsetting, but not
altogether unexpected, given the length of time he'd been "not doing
good."

We're doing a full CBC on Monday the 26th; I'll post if anything
unexpected occurs.
