Subject: more paranoia

My 5 year old, Dobie is fat (Fat all over, it's not like a
bloated stomach, 1100g). Her tail has been half-bald for a
couple of years without getting any worse. Can hair loss be
completely unrelated to an underlying problem? Would it make
sense to have her adrenals checked? Hypothyroid?
