Subject: Re: Help with upset tummy, diarrhea, vomiting? + new test
results

Happy Thanksgiving!

We got the rest of the test results back yesterday. (see below)

He seemed to be starting to get a little better. I had been giving
him 1/8 pepcid 2x day. Yesterday morning he even slurped that up out
of the bowl all by himself (hasn't happened in a month). Then he ate
his food real well...and threw it all up.

I was able to get several small meals into him, then the vet called.
He said the creatine (kidney?) levels were a little high, but that
BUN usually went up at the same time with kidney problems and the
white blood count was a little high. He also said the PH was high,
probably due to eating too much plant products, but all he has had in
the last month or so is chicken baby food, nutri-cal, pet-tinic, and
pedialyte?
We gave him subQ fluids yesterday, and he threw up on the way home.
We didn't notice any improvement. He ate some at night, but not very
willingly.

I asked the vet about ulcers & heliobacter, he said he didn't think
so. (but didn't say why) He gave us more flagyl and suggested we add
milk thistle to his soup.

How long does Flagyl take to have an effect? He seemed to get worse
about eating immediately after we started the flagyl, and gradually
get better after we ran out of flagyl and started giving him pepcid.

Would it be ok to keep giving him pepcid with the flagyl? For just-
in-case it is an ulcer? Would the pepcid help his body recover?

Do any of the test results clearly say that there is no ulcer and no
heliobacter?

I think our vet isn't used to people asking lots of questions. He
doesn't seem thrilled about it. (but I'm NOT going to stop!)

Here are the rest of the test results.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts, suggestions, and help!
