Subject: Re: itchy adrenal ferret and Lupron

Your friend's ferret is most likely getting 600 micrograms (0.6 mg),
not milliliters. 600 ml is equal to 120 teaspoons!

Anyway, if that's the four-month Lupron, 600 mcg is a reasonable dose
but may not be enough to alleviate the symptoms. If it's the one-
month Lupron, that's a huge dose. Some vets recommend as much as
2000 micrograms (2 mg) of the four-month Lupron. That's 3.5 times as
much as your friend's ferret is getting. I haven't heard of any side
effects from Lupron usage in ferrets being reported even with the
high dose.

The Lupron should help to alleviate the itch, though there are
products that can be used to help. Her vet may be able to suggest
something.
