Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] grieving ferret

Well I've only been through this once but I did actually bring my
ferret to the vet where he was diagnosed with loneliness. I had to
put my dog to sleep who had the same relationship with my ferret
that your older ferret had. I took a chance and thought that maybe
I could turn the table and give powder (my ferret) a baby to look
after. After about a week it worked. Powder started eating on his
own again and insisted that Ashes (the new ferret) slept with him.
Here we are two years later and it's an unbreakable bond. Well it's
kind of funny that Ashes my 1.4 lb princes has actually taken the
mother role over her big brother 3 lb Powder younger but bigger
sister Cinder and our newest addition a 4 month old kitten Tacoma.
It might not be the best advice and may not work but it breaks my
heart to hear of a ferret (or any other animal) going through
depression and thought that it may be helpful to share my
experience. Good luck.
